
The Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives will continue its Brown Bag Lunch series on Wednesday, December 8, with a presentation by Anthony Roth titled “The Butte Stope Books – What We Know About What Lies Below.”
This talk will be an introductory level presentation explaining what the Butte Stope Books are and what information the books hold. The talk will also explain stope book symbology and why the information in these books are important to Silver Bow County.
Anthony has worked in Data Preservation at MBMG since 2012 where his work has focused on archiving historic mine maps from Montana. Over the past two years, Anthony’s focus has been digitally preserving New Butte Mining’s holdings of the Butte Stope Book collection. He earned an A.A.S. degree in Internet Technology Networking from Montana Tech in 2014.
The presentation will begin at noon and run about an hour at the Archives, 17 W. Quartz Street. The Archives recommends masks for the safety of our patrons. Guests may bring a sack lunch, however, the archives will not provide coffee and water at this time.
