Butte’s history is full of amazing women! Did you know Montana’s first female physician practiced in Butte? Or that the first woman to pass the state bar exam practiced law in Butte? From scholars to politicians to blue-collar workers, Butte had them all! The Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives will continue its Brown Bag Lunch series on Wednesday, March 22 with a presentation by Lindsay Mulcahy about the women who have contributed to Butte’s past and present. Mulcahy is a Butte native who has been on staff at the Archives for three years. She holds a B.A. in History from Montana State University and has worked within Butte’s historic community for over decade including as a curator at the World Museum of Mining and as vice-chair on the Butte Historical Memorials board.
The Brown Bag Lunch will begin at noon and run about an hour at the Archives, 17 W. Quartz Street. Coffee and water will be served and guests may bring a sack lunch. For more information, contact the Archives at 782-3280.
