DESCRIPTION:Violinist Megan Karls will perform a short piece by Texas fiddler Mark O’Connor and discuss her work integrating classical music with stories of Montana’s history and landscape. In addition to the live performance\, she will share music recorded live on location from her two video albums\, Decommissioned: Solo Violin in Cold War Relics and Re-envisioned: Montana Composers in Mission Churches. \nJory Mickelson\, poet and storyteller\, will discuss their process of writing from archives and how history infuses their work. They will also discuss how place (architecture\, nature\, and people) aid in the creation of narrative and lyric poetry. They will share a few of their poems to illustrate this process. \nThe Brown Bag presentation will begin at noon on Wednesday\, June 24th\, 2026\, and will last about an hour.
