Brown Bag Lunch – Bert Abbott – History of the Butte Elks’ (B.P.O.E. 240)

The Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives’ Brown Bag Lunch Series welcomes Bert Abbott to present about Butte Elks’ Lodge No. 240 in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the opening of their building at 206 W. Galena in the fall of 1925.
The new home for Butte Elks’ Lodge No. 240 at the corner of Galena and Montana Streets was officially opened to the Butte public on November 21st, 1925, and since then has held many different types of celebrations and events that have benefitted the people of Butte. In conjunction with the current Elks’ exhibit on display at the Archives, Bert will talk about some of those celebrations and events, and what the Elks’ Lodge does, and has done, for Butte.
The Brown Bag presentation will begin at noon on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025, and will last about an hour. The presentation will be held in the auditorium at the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives located at 17 W. Quartz Street. Guests are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. Coffee and water will be provided.
Brown Bag Lunches are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. Upcoming lectures will focus on topics of local interest. For more information, contact the Archives at (406)782-3280.
