Brown Bag Lunch – Bill Spath & Jim Murphy – History of Polio and Striving to Eradicate the Disease

The Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives’ Brown Bag Lunch Series welcomes Bill Spath and Jim Murphy from the Rotary Club to present about polio and the current efforts to eradicate the disease.

Bill and Jim’s presentation will cover a brief history of polio, the severity of polio, and how the fight against polio is currently going. There will also be an iron lung on display in the main lobby of the Archives starting in the afternoon on February 10th through February 12th.

The Brown Bag presentation will begin at noon on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025, and will last about an hour. The presentation will be held in the auditorium at the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives located at 17 W. Quartz Street. Guests are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. Coffee and water will be provided.

Brown Bag Lunches are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. Upcoming lectures will focus on topics of local interest. For more information, contact the Archives at (406)782-3280.
