Brown Bag Lunch – Julie Bushmaker – Butte Nursing History

The Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives’ Brown Bag Lunch Series welcomes Julie Bushmaker to present about Butte’s nursing history.

St. James Hospital’s School of Nursing started in Butte, Montana in 1906 with 4 Nurses graduating in 1909. A total of 1,046 graduates received diplomas from St. James over the next 64 years. In 1969, 59% of all nurses employed in Butte were graduates of St. James. The last class of 19 Nurses graduated on June 5, 1970. Learn about this legacy, Cadet Nurse in WWII, life in Lourdes Hall, and training these Nurses experienced.

The Brown Bag presentation will begin at noon on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, and will last about an hour. The presentation will be held in the auditorium at the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives located at 17 W. Quartz Street. Guests are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. Coffee and water will be provided.
