The Butte-Silver Bow Archives is hosting two presentations on a selection of photographs from the C. Owen Smithers Photograph Collection called “The Changing Face of Butte.” The presentation will feature images from the Smithers Collection that illustrate how Butte’s buildings and landscapes have changed through the years: from an early mining town to a bustling metropolis, the loss of neighborhoods and the construction of new neighborhoods, Model Cities “improvements” of the 1960s, and the loss of buildings, mostly by fire, in the 1970s.

The presentation will run Wednesday, May 30, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and again on a Thursday, May 31, from noon to 1:00.
