The Fraternal Order of Knights of Pythias is an international fraternity, which was founded in Washington, DC, February 19, 1864, by Justus H. Rathbone, and embraces more than two thousand subordinate lodges in the United States. The Fraternal Order of Knights of Pythias promotes cooperation and friendship between people of goodwill. The Knights of Pythias were organized early in Butte’s history. Butte itself had four Lodges of the Knights of Pythias. The Knights of Pythias was disbanded in Butte in 1999, after more than 100 years.
